Workshop: From Technical Expertise to Strategic Leadership

This is the workshop that inspired the book Leader Evolution. Technical expertise is a necessary requirement for professional development, particularly because it contributes to building a base of credibility. Beyond a certain point in one’s career, however, managing relationships, working through others, building organizational capacity, strategic thinking and understanding the business are more critical for long-term personal and organizational success.

OBJECTIVES

  • Describe a roadmap for the roles, responsibilities, skills and competencies needed to move through four distinct stages of leadership development
  • Assess where individuals currently spend their time and the skills that are required to advance their careers
  • Develop a plan to improve leadership effectiveness through increased impact on the organization or business
